Trained with extensive practical knowledge in wine-making and viticulture in the Champagne, Alsace and Bordeaux regions, Mathieu Labaki fell in love with South Africa in 2004.
As head winemaker for one of the major players in the South African wine export market, he was responsible for the the entire wine making process from grape to bottle. Moving on from there to being the wine maker and manager for a premium range exporter and then as a consultant wine maker, continuing to develop his knowledge of and affection for South African wines.
In 2014, after 10 years experience in the heart of the South African vineyards, the decision was made to share Mathieu’s passion for wine. And so, Cape Terroir, based in Cape Town, with the mission to share the wealth and beauty of the Western Cape Winelands, was born.
